Overview

RNU6-1148P is a processed pseudogene related to the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA), one of the five core snRNAs involved in forming the spliceosomal complex that removes introns from pre-mRNA in eukaryotic cells[1][2][3][4]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-1148P are non-functional genetic elements: they resemble functional genes but typically contain mutations or sequence truncations that prevent them from encoding an active RNA or protein. While the active U6 snRNA plays a central role in catalyzing splicing reactions, pseudogenes such as RNU6-1148P do not participate in cell signaling, metabolism, or serve as therapeutic targets. They are considered genomic “relics,” sometimes useful for evolutionary studies or as markers of retrotransposition dynamics but not for drug targeting or clinical applications[4]. RNU6-1148P is a processed, nonfunctional pseudogene derived from U6 snRNA. It is not a drug target, has no known cellular role, and contains no clinical or therapeutic implications. Its inclusion as a therapeutic target would be incorrect.
