RNU6-1170P is a processed pseudogene in the human genome derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene, which plays a critical role in the splicing of pre-mRNA as part of the spliceosome complex. Pseudogenes like RNU6-1170P are the result of retrotransposition events, often mediated by LINE-1 (L1) elements, that create non-functional copies of RNA genes within the genome. U6 snRNA pseudogenes do not encode any functional product and are not therapeutically targetable. They can serve as genomic markers for retrotransposition or genome evolution studies, but do not participate directly in cellular signaling, splicing, or disease-related functions.
