RNA, U6 small nuclear 1171, pseudogene (RNU6-1171P) is a genomic locus considered a pseudogene—an imperfect copy or remnant—of the gene encoding U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA)[4][5]. U6 snRNA itself is a highly conserved component of the spliceosome machinery in eukaryotic cells, but RNU6-1171P does not encode a functional RNA or protein and is not implicated in canonical biological processes or disease mechanisms. The widespread presence of U6 snRNA pseudogenes in the human genome reflects evolutionary gene duplication rather than biological function[3][4]. Most pseudogenes, including RNU6-1171P, are not transcribed into functional molecules, do not serve as drug targets, and lack defined disease associations, biomarkers, or therapeutic relevance[6].
