Target intelligence / Profile preview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 1176, pseudogene (RNU6-1176P)

Target
RNU6-1176P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Non-coding RNA pseudogene
01

Overview

RNU6-1176P is a *human pseudogene* associated with the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family[6][5]. U6 snRNA itself is a highly conserved non-coding RNA central to the splicing of pre-mRNA as part of the spliceosome complex[1][3]. The U6 snRNA gene is present in multiple copies in vertebrate genomes; many of these are pseudogenes, like RNU6-1176P, which do not produce functional RNA or protein and typically have no role in cellular processes[3][7]. While a small number of pseudogenes can contribute to disease through regulatory or recombination mechanisms[2][4], there is no evidence that RNU6-1176P plays any such role. It is not considered a drug target, has no documented disease involvement, and lacks known drug or biomarker relevance[5].

Other names
RNU6-1176PRNA, U6 small nuclear 1176, pseudogene
02

Mechanism of action

Not applicable (see above)

03

Biological functions

No established biological function (pseudogenes are generally considered non-functional duplicates or relics of functional genes)
04

Disease associations

No direct role; however, some pseudogenes participate in disease mechanisms via gene conversion, recombination, or regulatory effects. No evidence links RNU6-1176P to any specific disease.
