Overview

RNU6-1186P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 1186, pseudogene) is a noncoding genomic DNA segment derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene, which originally encodes an essential RNA for spliceosome function in nuclear pre-mRNA splicing[5]. As a pseudogene, RNU6-1186P is not known to produce a functional transcript or protein, nor is it implicated in any characterized biological processes or diseases. U6 snRNA pseudogenes are abundant in the genome and can sometimes be transcribed, but the vast majority serve as molecular fossils without clear function[5][12]. In some cases, pseudogenes may exert regulatory effects (such as antisense regulation or acting as RNA decoys), but there is no evidence RNU6-1186P participates in such roles[6]. It is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or therapeutic target.
