Overview

RNU6-1192P is a pseudogene that originates from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family[1][4]. While U6 snRNA plays a critical role as a component of the spliceosomal machinery responsible for precursor mRNA splicing in eukaryotes[3][5], pseudogenes like RNU6-1192P are genomic DNA sequences similar to their functional gene counterparts but are typically non-functional due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements[1][6][4][7]. U6 snRNA and its pseudogenes are widely distributed in vertebrate genomes[5][6] and can serve as evolutionary markers for retrotransposition activity[6]. However, RNU6-1192P itself does not produce any functional RNA or protein product and has not been implicated in disease, therapeutic intervention, or diagnostic use[1][4][6]. Pseudogenes of U6 snRNA may contribute to genome evolution or serve as templates in retrotransposition, but individually, copies such as RNU6-1192P have no established direct role in cellular or pathological processes[6][7].
