Overview

RNU6-1195P is a pseudogene located on human chromosome 4 that is related to the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family[5][3][1]. The U6 snRNA genes encode functional non-coding RNAs involved in the spliceosome complex, essential for the splicing of pre-messenger RNA[6]. However, as a pseudogene, RNU6-1195P is a non-functional sequence derived from the active U6 snRNA gene through retrotransposition, specifically via LINE-1 (L1)-mediated processes, resulting in a genomic copy that does not produce a functional RNA product[4]. Such pseudogenes are common in vertebrate genomes and may serve as evolutionary markers but have no established biological, disease, or therapeutic relevance[4][6]. In summary, RNU6-1195P is a small nuclear RNA pseudogene and not a functional or therapeutic target.
