Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 1203, pseudogene (RNU6-1203P) is a human pseudogene derived from the highly conserved U6 small nuclear RNA gene, typically found as one of many non-functional copies ("U6 snRNA pseudogenes") in the genome[5][2][6]. U6 small nuclear RNA is an essential component of the spliceosome, catalyzing intron removal from pre-mRNA[3][1]; however, the pseudogene form lacks biological activity and does not produce a functional RNA or protein product[5][6]. These U6-derived pseudogenes are considered genomic "fossils," thought to arise via retrotransposition rather than play a direct role in cell biology[6]. There is no evidence supporting a functional, disease-associated, or drug-interactable role for RNU6-1203P.
