RNU6-1206P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 1206, pseudogene) is annotated as a pseudogene corresponding to the family of U6 small nuclear RNA genes in humans[1][2]. U6 snRNA genes are well-conserved and crucial for mRNA splicing, forming a core part of the spliceosomal machinery[3][5]. However, pseudogenes like RNU6-1206P are defective copies presumed to be nonfunctional—they do not produce mature snRNA molecules, are not incorporated into spliceosomes, and lack biological activity. Although some pseudogenes can influence gene expression through regulatory mechanisms (such as acting as molecular decoys for miRNAs or regulating parental genes), there is no evidence that RNU6-1206P has any functional role in humans[4]. Therefore, it cannot be considered a therapeutic target.
