Overview

RNU6-1208P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 1208, pseudogene) is a non-coding RNA pseudogene, annotated in human and other genomes as a member of the U6 small nuclear RNA pseudogene family[4][5]. It does not produce a functional RNA or protein, and does not play an active role in cellular processes. The canonical U6 small nuclear RNAs are essential components of the spliceosome, the major RNA-protein complex responsible for catalyzing pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotes[1][3]. However, pseudogenes such as RNU6-1208P are non-functional copies or gene fragments that generally lack regulatory elements, are not transcribed into stable RNAs, and do not contribute to spliceosomal activity. Thus, RNU6-1208P is not considered a receptor, enzyme, or other therapeutic target, and there is no evidence for pharmacological, diagnostic, or disease relevance[4][5].
