Overview

RNU6-1224P is a processed pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family. The canonical functional U6 snRNAs play a central role in the spliceosome, a large molecular complex responsible for the removal of introns from pre-mRNA during RNA splicing[3][1]. In contrast, RNU6-1224P, like other U6 snRNA pseudogenes, is considered non-functional, lacks the ability to form part of the spliceosomal machinery, and is typically not transcribed into a functional molecule[5]. Pseudogenes of snRNAs are thought to arise via retrotransposition events and can serve as markers for genome dynamics but are not implicated in therapeutic interventions or known biological pathways[5]. These pseudogenes do not encode proteins, do not interact with drugs, and have no documented safety or biomarker utility.

Mechanism of action

None

03

Biological functions

None (pseudogenes typically do not produce functional RNA or protein)Occasionally may serve as evolutionary markers or influence regulatory RNA surveillance, but these are not canonical functions
04

Disease associations

OtherIndirect: Pseudogenes, as a class, have minimal direct disease association; some pseudogenes may play roles in genetic studies or act as markers for genome stability, but RNU6-1224P has no established disease linkage
05

Safety considerations

None knownPseudogenes do not typically encode products that produce toxicity or therapeutic safety issues
