Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 1237, pseudogene (RNU6-1237P) is a processed pseudogene derived from parental U6 small nuclear RNA gene. U6 snRNA is normally a component of the spliceosome, involved in RNA splicing in eukaryotic cells; however, as a pseudogene, RNU6-1237P does not produce a functional snRNA molecule and is considered transcriptionally inactive or nonfunctional[1][6]. Pseudogenes like this are typically remnants of gene duplication and retrotransposition events and do not serve a role in molecular signaling, cell physiology, or disease, nor are they considered therapeutic targets. Their main significance is as markers of retrotransposition dynamics in the genome and evolutionary history[6].
