Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 1246, pseudogene (RNU6-1246P) is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 1 that shares sequence similarity with functional U6 small nuclear RNA genes, which are essential components of the spliceosome complex mediating pre-mRNA splicing[1][3][7][8]. As a pseudogene, RNU6-1246P does not produce a functional product and is not considered biologically active in canonical spliceosome assembly. Pseudogenes like RNU6-1246P are generally transcriptionally inactive and do not serve as therapeutic targets, receptors, or enzymes; there is no evidence that this particular pseudogene plays a regulatory or pathological role[1][7][3]. While some pseudogenes can participate in gene regulation through decoy or competing endogenous RNA mechanisms[4], there are no data indicating such a function for RNU6-1246P.
