Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 1251, pseudogene (RNU6-1251P) is a processed pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) family[3][4]. The canonical U6 snRNA is an essential component of the spliceosome, a complex involved in pre-mRNA splicing, and participates directly in the catalysis of intron removal in the cell nucleus[1]. In contrast, RNU6-1251P is a pseudogene, meaning it is a non-functional genomic copy of the U6 snRNA. Such pseudogenes typically arise through L1 (LINE-1)-mediated retrotransposition events, resulting in sequence copies that lack the regulatory or structural features necessary for expression or biological function[4]. RNU6-1251P does not encode a functional small nuclear RNA and does not participate in splicing or other cell processes. There is no evidence this pseudogene is used as a direct therapeutic target, is involved in any disease mechanism, or interacts with drugs[3][4].
