Overview

**RNU6-1268P** is a human pseudogene corresponding to the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family. U6 snRNA is a highly conserved small nuclear RNA that forms part of the spliceosome and is essential for the splicing of pre-mRNA[3]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-1268P do not produce functional snRNA and are considered genomic remnants; most are not expressed or are expressed at very low levels. Some pseudogenes in other gene families can have regulatory roles, such as acting as molecular sponges for microRNAs or participating in non-coding RNA regulation, but no such function is reported for RNU6-1268P[4]. It is not recognized as a therapeutic target, nor is it associated with drug interaction, disease biomarker status, or safety considerations.
