RNA, U6 small nuclear 1279, pseudogene (RNU6-1279P) is a non-protein-coding RNA gene classified as a processed pseudogene. It is related to the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA), which is highly conserved and forms a core component of the spliceosome complex—the machinery responsible for removing introns from precursor mRNA during splicing. However, as a pseudogene, RNU6-1279P includes sequence changes or structural features that render it nonfunctional in the canonical RNA processing role of U6 snRNA.
