Pseudogenes of the U6 snRNA family, including RNU6-1282P, are genomic copies that result from retrotransposition events mediated by long interspersed nuclear elements (LINEs), particularly LINE-1 (L1)[8]. Unlike the functional U6 snRNA, which plays a critical role in the spliceosome and pre-mRNA splicing, the RNU6-1282P pseudogene does not produce a functional RNA product and is not implicated in any biological processes or diseases[8][9][13]. It is annotated in major gene databases such as HGNC (HGNC:48245), NCBI Gene (106481585), and Ensembl (ENSG00000252544)[5][13]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-1282P can serve as markers of genomic retrotransposition but lack a direct functional or therapeutic role[8][13].
