RNA, U6 small nuclear 1294, pseudogene (RNU6-1294P) is a human pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene. Pseudogenes like RNU6-1294P are sequences that resemble functional genes but do not produce functional RNA or protein products. The parent molecule, U6 snRNA, is an essential component of the spliceosome complex responsible for pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotes[5][7], but RNU6-1294P itself does not participate in this or any other biological activity. Pseudogenes such as RNU6-1294P may arise by retrotransposition or by segmental duplication, and are prevalent in the human genome, especially those derived from small nuclear RNAs[9]. RNU6-1294P has no known role in human disease, is not druggable, and is not considered a therapeutic or functional molecular target[1][3][9].
