Overview

RNU6-1303P is a processed pseudogene originating from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family. Unlike functional U6 snRNA, which is a highly conserved, catalytically active component of the spliceosome essential for intron excision from pre-mRNA and post-transcriptional RNA processing[1][3], RNU6-1303P does not produce a functional RNA molecule. Pseudogenes like RNU6-1303P are non-functional genomic sequences that have arisen through retrotransposition—typically mediated by LINE-1 (L1) elements—which reverse transcribe cellular RNAs and insert them back into the genome[2]. Such pseudogenes lack promoter activity and cannot contribute to spliceosome or any cellular process. There is no evidence that RNU6-1303P participates in disease, drug interaction, or serves as a biomarker. Its presence in the genome can serve as a marker of retrotransposition dynamics but has no therapeutic or functional relevance[2]. RNU6-1303P is a non-functional pseudogene copy of U6 snRNA, is not considered a valid therapeutic target, and has no known biological, clinical, or pharmacological relevance. Its listing as a "target" is therefore incorrect.
