Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 1311, pseudogene (RNU6-1311P) is a non-coding RNA pseudogene annotated in the human genome[10]. Pseudogenes such as RNU6-1311P arise from duplication or retrotransposition of functional genes—in this case, the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene, which is essential in mRNA splicing via the spliceosome[1][3][5]. Unlike the canonical U6 snRNA, which is highly conserved and functional, pseudogenes such as RNU6-1311P are generally not transcribed or do not produce functional RNA molecules. They are byproducts of evolutionary genome dynamics such as LINE1-mediated retrotransposition[5], and most are presumed to be transcriptionally silent or lacking in biological activity[11]. There is no evidence that RNU6-1311P encodes a receptor, enzyme, or functional non-coding RNA, and it is not considered a therapeutic target. Its presence is largely relevant for genome annotation rather than molecular medicine or pharmacology. It has no known functional product, no established connection to disease or pathology, no known drug interactions or mechanisms of action, is not used as a biomarker, and has no safety considerations. RNU6-1311P is a pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA family—these serve no known function, are not therapeutic targets, and should not be included in drug target lists. Their primary relevance is for genome annotation and studies of retrotransposition and pseudogene evolution[5][10].
