Overview

RNU6-1339P is a processed pseudogene derived from U6 small nuclear RNA, a key component of spliceosomal snRNP complexes involved in pre-mRNA splicing[1][2][3][5][6]. Unlike functional U6 snRNA, pseudogene copies such as RNU6-1339P do not produce functional RNA or protein products and are generally considered non-functional remnants within the genome. U6 snRNA pseudogenes arise primarily through L1 retrotransposition mechanisms, resulting in truncated and nonfunctional copies dispersed throughout the genome[2]. Although most pseudogenes, including RNU6-1339P, do not serve as direct therapeutic targets, some pseudogenes are increasingly being studied for regulatory roles in gene expression via miRNA decoy or epigenetic modulation, but such activity has not been reported for RNU6-1339P[8]. No associated drugs, biomarkers, or safety concerns are established for this gene.

Biological functions

None known (Pseudogenes, including snRNA pseudogenes, are generally thought to lack canonical biological functions but may affect gene regulation in some contexts)
03

Disease associations

Other (Pseudogenes as a class may be involved in disease via competing endogenous RNA mechanisms or epigenetic regulation, but no disease associations are specifically reported for RNU6-1339P)
