Overview

RNU6-150P is a pseudogene sequence associated with the U6 small nuclear RNA family. U6 snRNA is a critical noncoding RNA component of the spliceosome that catalyzes splicing of pre-mRNA in eukaryotic cells[3][1]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-150P are DNA sequences similar to functional genes but are not expected to produce active molecules due to disabling mutations or truncations, and are generally considered nonfunctional genomic fossils[2][4]. Some pseudogene transcripts may be expressed and processed into small regulatory RNAs in certain biological contexts, potentially regulating related genes (as shown for a few other pseudogenes in mammals and other species, but not established for RNU6-150P)[4]. U6 snRNA–related pseudogenes are common in the human genome, reflecting the evolutionary importance and high sequence conservation of U6 snRNA[3]. There is no evidence that RNU6-150P is translated, acts as a functional receptor, enzyme, or other therapeutic target, nor that it is directly implicated in human disease or interacts with any approved drugs[4][3][5][1]. If more specificity or context arises, for example a regulatory function or active transcript from this sequence is identified, structured entries may be updated, but currently RNU6-150P is properly classified as a nonfunctional pseudogene and not a therapeutic target.
