Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 157, pseudogene (RNU6-157P) is classified as a pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA family. U6 snRNA is a non-coding RNA that is a critical component of the spliceosome complex, which catalyzes the excision of introns from pre-mRNA during RNA splicing in eukaryotic nuclei[1]. However, pseudogenes such as RNU6-157P are generally considered non-functional copies derived from ancestral genes, and they typically do not produce functional RNA or protein products. There are many U6 snRNA pseudogenes present in the vertebrate genome, believed to be evolutionary remnants and not involved in active RNA processing[1][7]. There is no evidence this pseudogene functions as a therapeutic target, serves a known biological function, interacts with drugs, or plays a known role in disease.
