RNA, U6 small nuclear 16, pseudogene (RNU6-16P) is a nonfunctional genetic element derived from the canonical U6 small nuclear RNA gene family. U6 snRNAs are core components of the spliceosome and facilitate pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotic nuclei[1]. Pseudogenes such as RNU6-16P arise via retrotransposition or duplication of functional snRNA genes and are incapable of forming the active RNA required for catalysis or spliceosomal assembly[3]. RNU6-16P does not participate in splicing and is not implicated as a molecular target in pharmacology or biotechnology. It is annotated in bioinformatics databases primarily as a marker of genomic events, not as a functional gene or therapeutic target[2][3].
