Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 162, pseudogene (RNU6-162P) is a processed pseudogene derived from the highly conserved U6 small nuclear RNA (U6 snRNA) gene family. U6 snRNA is an essential component of the spliceosome complex involved in the splicing of pre-mRNA, but *RNU6-162P* itself is a non-functional copy produced via retrotransposition, primarily by L1/LINE-1 elements. It is annotated as a non-coding RNA pseudogene and does not produce a functional RNA or protein product. There is no evidence that this pseudogene acts as a therapeutic target, nor is it known to participate in drug interactions, disease mechanisms, or clinical biomarker pathways. The classification and study of such pseudogenes provide insights into genome evolution and retrotransposon activity, but they lack direct biomedical relevance as functional molecular targets. Because the entity is a pseudogene and not an active gene product, it should not be considered a drug target, therapeutic target, or functional biological molecule.
