RNU6-165P is a pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA locus. U6 snRNA is a highly conserved non-coding RNA essential for the splicing of pre-mRNA, operating as part of the spliceosome complex in the nucleus[1][2]. RNU6-165P represents one of many inactive U6-derived loci found throughout the genome; its sequence is homologous to U6 snRNA but is not transcribed into a functional molecule, nor does it participate in RNA splicing. Unlike active U6 snRNA genes, RNU6-165P does not encode any protein, does not produce functional RNA, and is not involved in disease mechanisms, drug responses, or biomarker utility. Its presence reflects evolutionary duplications and is not functionally relevant for therapeutic targeting[2].
