RNU6-183P is a *processed pseudogene* copy of the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene, present in the human genome due to retrotransposition, usually mediated by L1 retrotransposons[1][2]. Unlike the functional U6 snRNA, which is essential for splicing as part of the spliceosome machinery[3], processed pseudogenes such as RNU6-183P lack the regulatory sequences and structural integrity needed for biological function. They do not produce functional RNA or protein, and are generally considered “genomic fossils.” While pseudogenes can play regulatory or evolutionary roles by acting as RNA decoys or through gene conversion, there is no evidence of RNU6-183P contributing to such activity. In general, pseudogenes have low transcription levels, and their expression is rarely linked to disease states[1][2][4]. RNU6-183P is not a drug target, biomarker, or a molecular target for therapeutic intervention.
