Target
RNU6-192P
Molecular classification
Other, Pseudogene, noncoding RNA pseudogene
01

Overview

RNU6-192P is classified as a **pseudogene** of the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family[1][5]. It does not encode a functional RNA transcript and does not play an active, direct role in cellular biology, disease, or as a drug target. U6 snRNA itself is a critical part of the spliceosome machinery involved in pre-mRNA splicing, but pseudogenes such as RNU6-192P are *genomic relics* created by retrotransposition events. They are typically nonfunctional and serve mainly as genetic markers or indicators of genome evolution and retrotransposition activity, not as functional drug targets or participants in canonical signaling or disease pathways[5][8]. There is no evidence that RNU6-192P is associated with disease, biological function, or clinical use. The presence of RNU6-192P reflects the history of mobile elements in the human genome, notably LINE-1 retrotransposons, which often produce such pseudogenes without biological activity[5].
