RNU6-194P, or RNA, U6 small nuclear 194, pseudogene, is a classified pseudogene of the human genome encoding a sequence similar to that of U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA), which normally participates in the spliceosome complex and pre-mRNA splicing. In vertebrate genomes, U6 snRNA pseudogenes are numerous and do not encode functional proteins or RNAs. Pseudogenes like RNU6-194P generally arise from retrotransposition or duplication of snRNA genes; they are commonly transcriptionally inactive and considered "genomic fossils," though some pseudogenes may exert regulatory effects on their parental genes or other RNAs through mechanisms such as acting as miRNA decoys or producing regulatory non-coding RNAs[3][4]. However, there is no literature evidence that RNU6-194P itself is functional, clinically relevant, or a validated molecular target for drug discovery or therapy in humans.
