Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 197, pseudogene (RNU6-197P) is classified as a small nuclear RNA (snRNA) pseudogene on human chromosome 7, not expected to produce a functional RNA product. Unlike functional U6 small nuclear RNA genes, which participate in the catalytic core of the spliceosome mediating pre-mRNA splicing, this pseudogene does not code for an active RNA or protein and has no described cellular or physiological roles[1][4]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-197P are non-functional genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but typically lack the regulatory elements necessary to be transcribed or produce active products[1][4]. There is no evidence for its implication in disease, drug response, or therapeutic intervention.
