Overview

RNU6-211P, also known as RNA, U6 small nuclear 211, pseudogene, is a member of a large family of small nuclear RNA (snRNA) pseudogenes related to the functional U6 snRNA, which is an essential component of the spliceosome involved in pre-mRNA splicing[2][5][10]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-211P are typically noncoding, presumed nonfunctional genomic DNA sequences that originated via duplication or retrotransposition of the parental snRNA gene but are not thought to produce active RNA or protein products[2][6][10]. The human genome includes many U6 snRNA pseudogenes, reflecting the evolutionary importance of U6 snRNA[5][6]. Although some pseudogenes in general may participate in regulatory or decoy functions, there is currently no evidence that RNU6-211P acts as a therapeutic target, has direct disease relevance, or interacts with drugs[2][10][11].

Biological functions

Other (no established functional role in normal biology; pseudogenes may occasionally have regulatory functions in rare cases[8][11][12])
