Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 215, pseudogene (RNU6-215P) is a pseudogene member of the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family. Pseudogenes are genomic sequences that resemble known genes but are typically non-functional; RNU6-215P is presumed not to produce a functional RNA product, and there is no evidence it functions in spliceosomal activity. The functional U6 small nuclear RNA is essential for the spliceosome and pre-mRNA splicing, but this designation applies to functional U6 RNAs, not pseudogenes such as RNU6-215P. RNU6-215P does not act as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or drug target and is not implicated in disease or therapeutic modulation. Key distinctions: - RNU6-215P is a noncoding RNA pseudogene and not a functional RNA nor a therapeutic target. - Its sequence is related to U6 small nuclear RNA, but it does not contribute to the spliceosome or RNA splicing. - There are no known interactions with drugs, disease roles, biomarker usages, or safety issues relevant to this pseudogene.
