RNA, U6 small nuclear 240, pseudogene (RNU6-240P) is a non-coding RNA pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family[2]. Pseudogenes, unlike their functional counterparts, are generally incapable of producing functional products due to accumulated mutations or loss of regulatory elements, and thus, they are typically transcriptionally silent or functionally inert. While U6 snRNA itself is an essential catalytic RNA involved in splicing within the spliceosome, RNU6-240P does not encode a functional RNA and has not been described as participating in any regulatory or disease-related processes[2][4]. Though some pseudogenes exhibit regulatory behaviors—either as RNA decoys or competitive endogenous RNAs—there is no evidence supporting such a role for RNU6-240P. It is not considered a druggable target, and there is no information linking it to therapeutic relevance, interacting drugs, or biomarker status[4].
