RNU6-245P ("RNA, U6 small nuclear 245, pseudogene") is a processed pseudogene found in the human genome. This locus is thought to be derived from retrotransposition events involving U6 snRNA genes, which play key roles in pre-mRNA splicing as part of the spliceosome. Unlike functional U6 snRNA genes, RNU6-245P does not produce a functional RNA molecule. Its presence is mainly indicative of retrotransposition dynamics within the genome and does not contribute to protein coding, splicing regulation, or any known biological process[2][5]. In general, many U6 pseudogenes exist in vertebrate genomes, reflecting the evolutionary and retrotransposon activity rather than functional or therapeutic relevance[3][5].
