Target intelligence / Profile preview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 274, pseudogene (RNU6-274P)

Target
RNU6-274P
Molecular classification
Other (snRNA pseudogene)
01

Overview

RNU6-274P is a pseudogene corresponding to the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family. Pseudogenes like RNU6-274P arise from retrotransposition events mediated by LINE-1 (L1) elements, resulting in non-functional genomic copies of snRNAs. U6 snRNA itself is a highly conserved and essential component of the spliceosome, involved in mRNA splicing in eukaryotes, but pseudogene copies such as RNU6-274P are not transcribed into functional molecules. The prevalence of U6 snRNA pseudogenes is indicative of their evolutionary importance and the activity of retrotransposition in the genome. RNU6-274P has no known biological activity, disease association, drug interaction, or biomarker utility beyond potential use in studying retrotransposon history.

Other names
RNU6-274PRNA, U6 small nuclear 274, pseudogene
02

Biological functions

Other (No direct biological function as it is a pseudogene; related to retrotransposition dynamics and genomic evolution)
03

Disease associations

Other (No direct disease role established; copy number can be used as a marker of L1 retrotransposition dynamics, but not directly implicated in disease)
04

Biomarkers

Other (snRNA pseudogenes including U6-derived copies can act as markers of retrotransposition dynamics but are not typical clinical biomarkers)
