The canonical U6 snRNA is a highly conserved non-coding RNA involved in the spliceosome machinery that excises introns from pre-mRNA in eukaryotic cells[1][2]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-293P are non-functional, do not produce a mature snRNA, and do **not participate in splicing** or other cellular activities. They have no recognized biological, disease, or therapeutic roles; nor do they interact with drugs or serve as biomarkers[2]. In contrast, the functional U6 snRNA and its gene copies (e.g., RNU6-1, RNU6-2) are widely used as endogenous controls in molecular biology assays due to their stable and ubiquitous expression[3].
