RNA, U6 small nuclear 3, pseudogene (RNU6-3P) is a non-functional genomic locus annotated as a pseudogene of the small nuclear RNA U6 family[1][5]. The functional U6 small nuclear RNA is a core catalytic component of the spliceosome, responsible for intron removal from pre-mRNA in eukaryotes[2][3]. However, RNU6-3P does not produce functional RNA and is considered a non-expressed or non-functional copy within the human genome[1][5]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-3P are common genomic elements, representing duplicated, mutated, or nonfunctional remnants of ancestral genes.
