RNU6-321P is a pseudogene member of the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family. The U6 snRNA is a highly conserved and essential component of the spliceosome required for pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotes[1][5]. However, the RNU6-321P locus itself is annotated as a pseudogene, indicating it is a non-functional, non-coding remnant derived from retrotransposition or duplication of a functional U6 gene[2][4]. The human genome contains many U6-derived pseudogenes, which are considered largely unexpressed and do not produce functional snRNA molecules[4]. There is no evidence that RNU6-321P is transcribed or plays a role in cellular biology, pathology, or as a therapeutic target.
