Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 325, pseudogene (RNU6-325P) is a processed pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family. U6 snRNA is a core non-coding RNA component of the spliceosome, essential for pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotes[3][5]. However, as a pseudogene, RNU6-325P does not produce a functional RNA molecule and is thought to lack biological function[1][4]. Pseudogenes such as RNU6-325P arise via duplication or retrotransposition and typically are non-functional remnants; they are numerous in the human genome and usually do not encode protein or exert regulatory effects[1][3][4]. While recent research has shown that some RNA pseudogenes can participate in regulatory networks or disease processes, this is specific to only a subset and there is no current evidence linking RNU6-325P itself to any direct biological function, disease association, or therapeutic targeting[1][2]. Thus, RNU6-325P is not considered a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or pharmacological target.
