Target
RNU6-341P
Molecular classification
Other (pseudogene, small nuclear RNA family; not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, etc.)
01

Overview

RNU6-341P is a human pseudogene from the U6 small nuclear RNA family. U6 snRNA is a critical component of the spliceosome, the large RNA-protein complex responsible for excising introns from pre-mRNA during post-transcriptional processing in eukaryotes. The sequence of U6 snRNA is highly conserved, and functional U6 snRNA is essential for splicing and viability. Pseudogenes such as RNU6-341P are non-coding DNA segments thought to arise via gene duplication or retrotransposition during genome evolution and generally do not have a known biological function or clinical relevance. While the study of pseudogenes can provide insight into genome evolution or possible regulatory roles, RNU6-341P itself has no established role as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or disease gene.

02

Mechanism of action

None (as no drugs known to target the pseudogene, and it does not encode a protein target)

03

Biological functions

None (as a pseudogene, RNU6-341P does not have an established biological function; for canonical U6 snRNA, "splicing," specifically catalyzing intron excision from pre-mRNA)
04

Disease associations

None (no established role for pseudogenes like RNU6-341P in disease; canonical U6 snRNA function is essential for viability, but not a disease target itself)
