RNU6-346P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 346, pseudogene) is a human pseudogene homologous to U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA), an abundant non-coding RNA component of the spliceosome. U6 snRNA is highly conserved and essential for pre-mRNA splicing, but this specific locus (346, pseudogene) does not produce functional RNA and is defined as a processed pseudogene[1][3][4]. Although rare pseudogenes can regulate gene expression through RNA interference or as miRNA sponges (competing endogenous RNA, ceRNA), there is no evidence that RNU6-346P functions in such a role[2]. Pseudogenes related to U6 snRNA occur commonly throughout vertebrate genomes, reflecting evolutionary duplication events rather than functional necessity[3][4]. RNU6-346P is not a protein, receptor, or enzyme, and thus not a classical molecular target or druggable entity. In summary: it is an inactive genetic locus, with no confirmed biological function, disease association, or drug interaction.
