Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 35, pseudogene (RNU6-35P) is a non-coding RNA pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family. U6 snRNA is a critical component of the spliceosome, essential for nuclear pre-mRNA splicing; however, pseudogenes such as RNU6-35P are non-functional copies that do not produce active RNA molecules or protein products[1][3][4]. These pseudogenes are typically the result of retrotransposition or gene duplication events and are scattered throughout the genome. RNU6-35P itself lacks known biological function, is not considered a molecular target for drugs, and is not implicated as a biomarker or therapeutic target for human disease. The high number and diversity of U6 pseudogenes, including RNU6-35P, reflects ongoing retrotransposon activity in the genome, but their presence serves mainly as markers of genomic evolution and retrotransposition rather than as functional or druggable biological entities[4].
