RNA, U6 small nuclear 358, pseudogene (RNU6-358P) is classified as a pseudogene corresponding to a non-coding RNA gene related to the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) family[2][7]. U6 snRNAs themselves are core components of the spliceosome, involved in pre-mRNA splicing, but pseudogenes like RNU6-358P are typically non-functional due to sequence mutations that disrupt their ability to be transcribed or processed in the normal manner[1][5]. While some pseudogenes can be transcribed and have been found to play regulatory roles such as acting as decoys for microRNAs or sources of small interfering RNAs (siRNAs)[4], there is no evidence that RNU6-358P has such activity or functional significance[2][7]. As a pseudogene, RNU6-358P does not encode a protein or a functional RNA product and therefore is not considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or similar entity. There are no known drugs, disease associations, biomarker status, or established safety concerns related to RNU6-358P[2][7].
