RNA, U6 small nuclear 368, pseudogene (RNU6-368P) is a member of the vast class of genomic elements known as pseudogenes, specifically derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA family[2][3]. Pseudogenes are generally non-protein-coding genomic sequences that arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events; they resemble functional genes but typically have lost their ability to encode functional RNA or protein due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements[1][3]. While most pseudogenes, including RNA, U6 small nuclear 368, pseudogene, are not directly involved in cellular processes as functional targets or receptors, recent research has shown that some pseudogenes can regulate their parental gene expression or interact with the cellular regulatory machinery, often by acting as decoys for microRNAs or contributing to the small interfering RNA pool[1]. To date, there is no evidence that RNU6-368P functions as a therapeutic target, disease biomarker, or drug-interacting molecule, nor is it described as being functionally active in any specific biological process or disease context[2][3].
