Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 381, pseudogene (RNU6-381P) is a genomic locus classified as a processed pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family[2][5]. U6 snRNA is an essential component of the spliceosome, critical for the excision of introns from pre-mRNA as part of mRNA splicing in eukaryotes[1][3]. However, RNU6-381P is a non-coding, non-functional copy resulting from retrotransposition and is not transcribed into a functional RNA molecule[5]. Like many snRNA pseudogenes, it reflects the evolutionary history of gene duplication and retrotransposition but does not appear to encode a functional product or play an active biological or disease-related role[2][5]. There are no known drugs or biomarkers associated with this RNA pseudogene, nor does it serve as a recognized therapeutic target. Notes: - This entry is not a protein-coding gene, enzyme, receptor, transporter, or traditional drug target. It is instead a non-functional genetic relic (processed pseudogene). - Functional U6 snRNA is well characterized in spliceosomal biology, but this pseudogene is not relevant to drug discovery or clinical intervention and has no established clinical significance[1][3][5].
