RNA, U6 small nuclear 395, pseudogene (RNU6-395P)

Target
RNU6-395P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Small nuclear RNA pseudogene, Non-coding RNA
01

Overview

RNU6-395P is a processed pseudogene related to the U6 small nuclear RNA family[5]. U6 snRNAs are core components of the major spliceosome, which catalyzes pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotes[1][3]. Pseudogenes such as RNU6-395P arise when an RNA gene is retrotransposed and subsequently loses critical regulatory or coding features, typically rendering them non-functional[2][4]. Recent research shows that a subset of pseudogenes may acquire regulatory functions, including modulation of chromatin, miRNA sponging, or production of non-coding transcripts, but there is no specific evidence that RNU6-395P is functionally expressed or involved in these processes[5]. Expression databases report evidence of transcription in a variety of tissues, but no specific cellular function, disease role, or therapeutic relevance has been established for RNU6-395P[5].

Mechanism of action

Not applicable; as no drugs are reported to target RNU6-395P.

03

Biological functions

Likely non-functional.Pseudogenes have recently been found to participate in functions such as chromatin remodeling, miRNA/RNA binding protein sponging, and generation of regulatory RNAsNo specific biological function has been reported for RNU6-395P itself.
04

Disease associations

OtherWhile some pseudogenes are relevant in disease processes (e.g., competitive endogenous RNAs in cancer), no direct role for RNU6-395P in any disease has been described
