RNA, U6 small nuclear 431, pseudogene (RNU6-431P) is classified as a pseudogene derivative of U6 small nuclear RNA. U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) itself is a critical component of the spliceosome, the complex that catalyzes removal of introns from pre-mRNA during gene expression[3][1]. However, RNU6-431P is a *pseudogene*—meaning it shares sequence similarity with U6 snRNA genes but is thought to lack protein-coding potential or canonical function in the spliceosome[5]. Recent research has revealed that some pseudogenes may have biological roles as regulatory non-coding RNAs, potentially generating small interfering RNAs or acting as miRNA decoys and thereby influencing the expression of other genes[4][6]. There is, however, no direct evidence linking RNU6-431P specifically to any disease, drug mechanism, or therapeutic application. Accordingly, RNU6-431P is not considered a therapeutic target but contributes to the growing understanding of pseudogenes as potential regulatory elements within the genome.
