Target intelligence / Profile preview
RNA, U6 small nuclear 45, pseudogene (RNU6-45P) is a pseudogene related to the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family[4][6]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-45P are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but generally considered nonfunctional due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements required for expression. The canonical U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) is a highly conserved non-coding RNA that plays an essential role in the splicing of pre-messenger RNA as a core component of the major spliceosome complex[2][3][5]. However, pseudogenes such as RNU6-45P do not encode functional snRNA and are not involved in spliceosomal activity or other biological functions[4][6][7]. RNU6-45P is not considered a therapeutic target, nor is it a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or involved in signal transduction. There is no evidence linking RNU6-45P to disease roles, biomarker applications, drug interactions, or safety concerns. Its presence in the genome mainly reflects retrotransposition and genomic evolution events associated with snRNA genes[7]. Therefore, RNU6-45P serves mostly as a genomic marker for pseudogene annotation and retrotransposition dynamics, and not as a molecular or therapeutic target. Note: - RNU6-45P is often confused with the functional U6 snRNA gene, but it is essential to distinguish that RNU6-45P is a pseudogene with no established functional or therapeutic relevance[4][6].
