Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 453, pseudogene (RNU6-453P) is a non-protein coding sequence present in the human genome that resembles the U6 small nuclear RNA gene but does not encode a functional transcript. U6 snRNA itself is a critical component of the spliceosome, catalyzing excision of introns from pre-mRNA during post-transcriptional modification in eukaryotic cells[5][3]. The U6 snRNA gene and its related pseudogenes are highly conserved and present in multiple copies across vertebrate genomes, but pseudogenes such as RNU6-453P are typically genomic relics produced by retrotransposition and do not have an established biological or pathological role[4][7].
