Overview

RNU6-476P is a human pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family, annotated as "RNA, U6 small nuclear 476, pseudogene." Pseudogenes are DNA sequences similar to known genes but are considered nonfunctional remnants that do not encode active transcripts or proteins. U6 small nuclear RNA proper is a highly conserved, catalytically essential component of the spliceosome, which mediates pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotic cells[1][3]. However, RNU6-476P lacks the necessary sequence or function for such roles, and its biological importance, if any, is limited to serving as a marker of retrotransposition events in genomics studies[4][5]. There is no evidence that RNU6-476P is a protein, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other direct therapeutic target; thus, it is not a drug target and has no reported biological functions, disease associations, or interactions with drugs. The designation as a pseudogene means it is generally not transcribed into a functional RNA or protein product[5].
